Should I Be Drinking Turmeric Lattes?

The turmeric latte, otherwise known as golden milk, originates in India but has recently started making rounds in health-conscious circles in the west. It’s typically made with warm milk and turmeric, cinnamon and ginger. The spices, through the fat-rich liquid, deliver a dose of health benefits like anti-inflammatory properties and increased immunity.

Benefits of The Spices

Turmeric’s active component, curcumin, is loaded with antioxidants that repair cell damage and stave off further damage. Because of the anti-inflammatory properties, the concoction is also an effective pain reliever for joints and other minor aches. Additionally, studies show that turmeric may boost mood, alleviating mild depressive symptoms.

The fresh ginger in the recipe aids in digestion, giving your metabolism a boost! If you’re not a fan of regular milk, feel free to use a milk substitute like oat or almond milk. If you’re like me and hate milk overall, look up an ice cream recipe and make a turmeric latte ice cream! It’s a bit different from the golden milk serving suggestion but the spices deliver results all the same. Get creative with it.
