Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Mask Review:

Ok, let’s start with the ingredients list. This formula is jam-packed with goodies! And if you’re a fan of rose-scented products, you’ll love this mask. While the citronellol contributes to some of the rose scent, this formula also contains Damask Rose Flower Oil, which has no comparable synthetic alternatives, making the extract VERY expensive.

However, Vitamin C is the star here, otherwise known as ascorbic acid on the label. It not only brightens skin, fading pigmentation and brown spots, but it also boosts collagen production and boosts UV protection when used under sunscreen.

Thanks to the squalane, the formula is smooth and moisturizing. It starts off as a rose-scented gel and turns into a smooth cream as you rub it onto the face. My skin can be sensitive to vitamin C products, and it often turns a bit red after a vitamin C-based application. I was fully expecting some sort of freakout, so I made sure to leave the mask on for the minimum recommended time of 5 minutes.

Considering it was such a short amount of time, I was surprised by the results. My skin didn’t freak out and it looked bright and smooth. Ever since I hit 30, I had a little hyperpigmentation spot on the tip of my nose. No matter what I do, it just hangs out there. After a month of using this mask every few days, I don’t see the spot anymore. It literally used to peek out through makeup!

One thing to note is that despite using it for only 5 minutes, I experienced some tingling and slight redness. It went away within a few minutes of rinsing the mask off, but if your skin tends to be sensitive to any fragrance, don’t keep it on long and don’t use it daily. Opt for 2-3 times a week for the minimum amount of time.

    1. This is a rinse-off variety, so it’s not advised to leave it on longer than 15 minutes. It turns into a white foam upon application and starts tingling when left on for longer.
