Leave it to London to deliver some spectacular getups and push boundaries of fashion. There’s youthful energy on the runways of London Fashion Week, and I feel a compelling connection to a lot of the crazier looks. I grew up gravitating toward the avant-garde, and the techniques and trends tend to dance on the edge of things ahead of their time.
A few trends carried through from NYFW, primarily the velvet. More velvet! And while elongated and exaggerated sleeves showed up on London runways as well, they were less prominent than the long and oversize coats. Then there were sequins. Plenty of sequins! I love the sparkle in my life, so this is something I welcome with open arms, especially when paired with large faux fur coats.
Even though the season is fall, designers didn’t shy away from small floral prints and a mix-match of patterns. Ruffles and pussy-bows rounded everything off and created some sensational romanticism.[robo-gallery id=”26888″]
