The past five days of NYFW have been a complete whirlwind for me! I can’t wait to sit down and actually recap everything I learned this season, but first the important part: NYFW street style snaps.
I absolutely LOVE shooting street style during fashion week. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing the runway shows and photographing the beautiful looks on the runways, but I get a rush from running after some impeccably dressed people and taking their pictures. It doesn’t hurt when the people are some amazing celebrities.
Maybe it’s the excitement of the fast pace?
Anyway, this is one of the most tiring parts of my week. I can spend hours on the streets, on my feet, waiting for show guests to go in and out of the venues. I intersperse that with all the actual fashion shows I go to and try to take street snaps before and after my shows.
You know, it’s kind of funny, when I show up as a showgoer, I have other photographers stop me and take snaps of me. But, when I show up with my camera and start taking photos of others, all the photographers pretty much ignore me. It’s a really weird street dynamic. There’s a weird ranking at fashion week where it seems like you’re either a showgoer or a photographer. As if you can’t be both.
Anyway, I hope that changes in the years to come since I see so many female blogger photographers, dressed stylishly, with a heavy-duty camera and major photo skills out there. Both Andrea of PrettyProperQuaint and I took to the streets hungry for action and got some pretty fab shots.
