I feel like I just did a recap of Fall 2015 campaigns. Old news, on to Spring ’16. My thoughts on ads stand: they’re incredibly inspiring pieces of work.
You’ve probably already heard of Balmain stomping through with ’90s supermodels at the forefront. Also, there’s the Louis Vuitton foray into video games with Lightning (Final Fantasy) modeling the latest looks. I’m a video game geek (when I was younger I had a video game blog!), so I’m totally into it. BUT, I’m a lot more into the captivating Valentino ads. The photography is stunning!
While there’s a host of controversy surrounding the ads and Valentino’s choice of casting, photojournalist and travel photographer Steve McCurry beautifully captures the Kenyan landscape with his photos. He’s such a fitting choice for on location shoots! If you’re new to McCurry’s name, you know him from the most recognized photo on the planet, The Afghan Girl (Sharbat Gula), which appeared on the 1985 cover of National Geographic. I’m a travel/nature photo geek if you don’t know by now, so my gravitation toward his work totally makes sense.
