Not everyone loves Björk’s fashion sense, which is unfortunate because I truly believe she’s walking the line of a somewhat distant fashion future. It’s become more commonplace to wear exaggerated shapes and transformative outfits, so it seems like we’re approaching the fringes of Björk’s imagination when it comes to style. Celebrities like Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj (believe it or not) and even Katy Perry have become huge icons with consistently unusual wardrobes, making the weird a bit more acceptable and mainstream.
Björk still stands on the edge of it all, casually flaunting fashion’s artistic expression as if it’s a living pulse of the world. There’s something to be said about looking back at her fashion history and realizing that everything still feels relevant, fresh and ahead of its time. She has a knack for choosing things which, in their strange absurdity, are masterpieces.
