Even though our girl Kendall didn’t walk the Spring 2020 NYFW runways, we still got a dose of beautiful from the designers. Keeping up with the times, the designers blurred gender lines and made a splash with Pantone’s color prediction for next year. Flame Scarlet, Saffron, and Classic Blue led the pack in terms of hues while animal print continued with their field day.
What’s the scoop so far? We’re seeing a ton of ’80s influences carrying us through until next year, especially in the beauty sphere. The emphasis is on imperfectly placed watercolor shadows and Bowie-esque touches. Carrying on with the fashion evolution, diversity ruled. We saw models from all walks of life, including proper plus size, older models and new moms with their toddlers! Not only did the girls walk, but boys joined with unisex looks. This is a new era of fashion, inviting everyone to join in on the fun.
While London, Paris, and Milan have their own slew of trends, we have a pretty solid foundation of trends to go on from New York so far.
Tie-dye
Oversized, flowing dresses
Platform shoes
Lots of animal print
Flame designs
Euphoria inspired sequins
Puffy Sleeves
One thing we know for sure is that designers are embracing the realness of Gen Z. Kim K might have broken the internet, but Euphoria broke beauty and fashion norms. We’re seeing designers embrace diversity and make a splash with imperfection.
We’re here for the new wave! As much as we love a perfectly applied face, sometimes the imperfectly blurred lips and a swipe of color on the lids to accompany a comfortable outfit is all we need.
