Processes have a time and a place in any person’s productivity tips arsenal. Elon Musk has a new process, and it errs on the side of anti-establishment.
Long story short, in his letter to Tesla employees, he lists out six productivity tips he believes will have a massive impact on personal and professional productivity.
He mainly nixes any associated with meetings.
As someone who used to do project coordination and worked in a project management office, I’m fully on board. I think most of those meetings could’ve been skipped and ultimately laid waste to productive time. I saw developers who were increasingly frustrated by being disrupted in their tasks. Honestly, project tracking updates could’ve been easily confined to e-mails instead of having regular meetings.
The approach Musk lays out is a lot more actionable.
I understand the need for checking in once in a while and getting on the same track, but too frequent meetings are just a disruptor. Think about efficiency first and foremost.
