DIY Halloween Costume Ideas & DIY Projects You Can Do This Week!

Unfortunately, I’ll be away this Halloween, but that doesn’t mean I can’t give you a brief roundup of some cool Halloween costume ideas! I typically stay away from buying costumes at the store since they’re waaaaay too expensive for the quality and because I like to have variety.

Plus, it’s so much fun to DIY things! I know certain items (ahem, Maleficent headpiece) may look tough to make, but I promise you it’s not! Plus, it’s almost therapeutic. It requires a little quiet time and concentration.

That said, there are some crazy looks that celebs have worn out in the past. Heidi Klum is the Halloween Queen (sorry, Chanel #1, #2, #3 and original Chanel). I’m always SO inspired by her costumes, but I don’t think I’m as committed. Maybe when I start throwing grand Halloween bashes I’ll take things a bit more seriously. In the meantime, it’s all about some “poison” candy apples and banana ghosts.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Maleficent: The video for the headpiece got pretty popular, and for good reason. This is a super fun project and doesn’t require a lot of investment in the materials. Plus, you can reuse the headpiece next Halloween!

And of course, can’t do it without the makeup. The full makeup tutorial is here.

Cheshire Cat: This one is more about the makeup than anything else. You can essentially swing the outfit with a striped shirt and some jeans/regular pants if necessary. Obviously, don’t forget those cat ears. You might want to do a practice run with the makeup. I didn’t and it turned out a little messy but I’m sure that second time around it would’ve been just fine. Halloween Recipes for Your Party: Ok, this makes me super excited. Most of these are so easy to make! I did a little Halloween village a few years ago and everyone loved the cute party foods! Some are SUPER simple to make, like the Halloween banana ghosts. Basically, you just cut bananas in half and use chocolate chips for eyes and a mouth! Check out al the recipes here.
